Repair Together is a grassroots organisation dedicated to rebuilding Ukraine, fostering an active volunteer community, and promoting Ukrainian culture. Our International Building Camp (INBUT) invites volunteers to the Chernihiv Oblast to rebuild homes destroyed by the russian occupation and become part of the community. INBUT will run from June to around October 2026 (start and end dates to be confirmed), with a break 24/07 to 7/08 (INBUT and Camp will be closed).
Why volunteer with INBUT?
Join INBUT to make a real difference to Ukrainian families. You’ll work alongside Ukrainian and international volunteers, and build lifelong friendships in the sunflower fields of rural Ukraine. INBUT 2026 aims to:
- Rebuild and repair homes destroyed and damaged by the russian occupation
- Repair and improve community infrastructure in rural and urban Chernihiv
- Teach English conversation classes for children and adults living in rural areas
- Build a supportive community of Ukrainian and international volunteers, which is part of the community we help
Volunteers live and work together, creating a welcoming environment to grow, learn, and connect. After work, relax with trips to the local lake for a swim or volleyball, bond over fireside chats with volunteers from around the world, and enjoy the rural Ukrainian lifestyle.
INBUT has an impact beyond the construction sites. INBUT raises hope and connection in volunteers, the families we are building homes for, and the local community.
Who thrives at INBUT?
Happy and effective volunteers are hardworking, eager to learn, problem-solvers, self-sufficient, and ready to proactively help others. They are also excited to contribute to a self-organising community of Ukrainian and international volunteers.
Experience and a desire to share what you know in these areas is useful, but not essential:
- Construction (we urgently need electricians, plumbers and concreters, but all trades are useful)
- Cooking for large groups
- Organising and teaching English conversation classes

Repair Together sometimes has other short-term volunteering opportunities to repair and rebuild homes and cultural buildings in Chernihiv and Kyiv oblasts. Information about these is announced at @repair.together on Instagram and Telegram.
Repair Together also has a community space in Kyiv (@kyianivsky on Instagram), which hosts cultural, educational, and volunteering events.
Type of work:
International Building Camp (INBUT):
- Construction work: various construction work including electrical, plumbing, external insulation, screeding, plastering, painting, tiling. If you have experience and skills, be ready to teach. If not- be ready to learn!
- Camp life: all volunteers help with cleaning, cooking, and maintaining the camp
- Teach English conversation classes: optional, no experience required

Accommodation
Camp in a village in Chernihiv Oblast with basic shared amenities (outdoor toilet, shower, kitchen). Shared tents, and sleeping matt and sleeping bag may be available (or bring your own)
Food
3 meals a day provided, volunteers take turns cooking
Travel arrangements within Ukraine
Not provided, will advise how to get to camp. Transport from camp to worksites provided.
